15 - 36 months - A child's basic motor skills, perceptual development (learning through senses and cognitive (thinking) skills are established during infancy. With the use of circuits (various gymnastics skills and apparatus arranged together by our instructors), props, trampolines and music, our class will help stimulate your child into learning many gross motor skills such as balancing and directional movement. Whoever accompanies your child will be taught proper technique on how to develop these skills as well as reinforce your child's self-esteem. Each child is an individual and will develop differently, therefore, every smallest achievement will receive praise.
TUMBLING TURTLES (3-4 year olds)
Once again using the circuits (various gymnastics skills and apparatus arranged together by our instructors), props, trampolines and music your child will learn the basics of gymnastics, this time on their own. In this nurturing and structured environment, children will learn more basic mechanics of gymnastics skills as well as learning to wait their turn, follow a pattern and how their body moves.
LEAP FROGS (4-5 year olds)
Circuits (various gymnastics skills and apparatus arranged together by our instructors), props, trampolines are still used buy more emphasis is geared towards building strength, flexibility and individual skills for the different gymnastics apparatus. Children are challenged through questions and various skill drills to learn the basic skills of gymnastics such as handstands, cartwheels, various jumps, balancing and bar skills.
STINGRAY GLIDERS GIRLS 6-7 year olds/ STINGRAY GLIDERS BOYS 5 and older
At this age, children begin to work on the Gymnastics Apparatus. The girls will work on learning the basic skills on floor, balance beam, uneven bars, vault and trampoline. The boys will work on floor, parallel bars, pommel horse, high bar, still rings, vault and trampoline. Children work through a progression of skills on each apparatus and master of each skill is necessary to learn more advance skills.
REC. GIRLS BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE 8 - 9 years old
Children contintue to build on the basics learned in Gliders. This class is based on ability.
REC. GIRLS INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED 8 years and older
Children contintue to build on the basics learned in Gliders. This class is based on ability. This class is 1 1/2 hours long and develops the necessary flexibility, strength and skills needed to progress to the Pre Team level. Placement in this class is by instructor recommendation or evaluation.
TUMBLING AND TRAMPOLINE (ages 8yrs and older)
This class is dedicated to working on tumbling skills on the floor as well as various jumps and "flips" on the trampoline. A series of progressive skills are taught and reviewed (handstands, cartwheels etc.) and once mastered, advanced skills will be introduced (forward and backward saltos). For boys and girls ages 8 years and older (co-ed class).
