We have established certain rules and policies which are for the safety and enjoyment of the facility. We request that you read the following and discuss them with your child. These are very important and the inability to comply with these is likely to result with your child being requested to cease participating in our program.

 

MOTIONS UNLIMITED RULES

(Please read and go over these with your child. Note the emergency procedures and explain these to your child)

Gym Rules

  1. ABSOLUTELY NO PARENTS COACHING FROM THE OBSERVATION AREA!
  2. UNLESS YOU ARE IN A 'ME AND MY SHADOW' CLASS OR HAVE SPECIFIC PERMISSION TO ENTER THE GYM, NO PARENTS ARE ALLOWED IN THE GYM AREA!  WE HAVE PROVIDED A VERY NICE OBSERVATION AREA FOR YOUR COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE.
  3. No child or adult is allowed to use the studio unless supervised by an instructor.  Please wait for your instructor before entering the gym.
  4. Children must wear gymnastic outfits. Baggy clothing can result in serious injury. Shoes and socks are not permitted in the exercise areas.  NEVER wear socks on the tumble track!
  5. Children may not wear rings, earrings, watches and hair must be pulled back from face.  Please do not use large decorative hair bands, as this will hurt little heads during forward rolls..
  6. Long hair must be pulled back. This is a safety precaution.  Please make sure your child brings a hair tie.  We only have a few spare hair ties available.
  7. There is to be no eating or drinking in the exercise area and no objects are to left on the floor.
  8. Please make sure your child arrives on time.  Warm-up is necessary to prevent injury.
  9. ME & MY SHADOW CLASSES:  Please try and keep your child with the class.  If your child wanders off, encourage them to rejoin the class as soon as possible.  If sharing the gym with other classes, please keep your child away from those classes.  No one should be on either the Tumble Trak or Trampoline without an instructor.  Parents may not hold hands and jump with the child, this can pull the shoulder out of socket or cause other catastrophic injury.
  10. Children must follow the instructions of the instructor for their own safety. Children who are constantly unable to follow instructions may be asked to cease to attend the facility, in which event fees will be refunded on a pro rata basis.
  11. LISTEN to instructions before attempting all exercises.  If you’re not sure what the instructor is asking from you, REQUEST CLARIFICATION.  There is no such thing as a stupid question.
  12. NO TALKING WHEN THE INSTRUCTOR IS SPEAKING.  The teacher/coach may be describing something to the class that you already know.  It is essential that all students are able to hear the instructor so quietly wait for the teacher to stop talking before making a comment of asking a question.
  13. NO PREFERENTIAL PARTICIPATION in class activities.  All exercises are required from all participants.  Special attention is given to developing strength and flexibility for young boys.  It is required for safe participation in the sport.
  14. COMMUNICATE with your instructor before attempting an element.  Your instructor must know what you are attempting to do before you try anything new.

 Facility Rules

.

  3. A registration and medical information form must be completed before entering the gym.  Registration forms are valid for one year.
  4. Please notify us if your child is taking and medication or any prior injury or illness even if it may not affect them during gymnastics.
  5. All children and parents must register with the front office each time they come to the facility. Each child must notify the front desk when they leave the facility. This is a safety precaution and must be followed.
  6. Clothing and bags must be left in designated areas.
  7. Children may not leave the facility without the consent of an instructor or the person in charge of the office area. If a stranger is picking up your child please notify management.
  8. Running is not allowed inside the office areas or on the staircases.
  9. Children should be at the facility where possible 15 minutes before classes start and collected within 15 minutes after the class has ended.  If you are running late, please call and let us know.
  10. Parents who wish their children to stay for extended periods must make arrangements with the front desk.
  11. All children not in the program under six years of age must be accompanied by a student or a responsible sibling, unless prior arrangements are made with the front office.
  12. Please note that snacks are only for students registered in our programme.
  13. There are separate bathroom facilities for boys and girls and separate showers and changing rooms. Unless accompanied by an adult parent, bathroom and showers must be used as designated.
  14. Children in the play areas must not jump on the couches or chairs and must not climb on the balconies. Children will be encouraged to return toys and other games to their correct place after use.
  15. To accommodate your child’s studies, the playroom downstairs will be designated as a Study Hall after 3:00pm.  The TV will be turned off and the area will be used for our members to complete their homework.
  16. Should there be a problem with a particular instructor or a problem with anything to do with your child, please do not hesitate to discuss the same with management. We wish your child to enjoy the facility at all times.

Payment Rules

.

  • To ensure your child’s continuation in the program all accounts must be kept up to date.
  • All payments must be made by their due dates or penalty charges will occur.
  • Two make-up classes are allowed per term.  Make-ups must be scheduled in advanced and cannot be carried over.  Make-up classes can be done during our Toddler Play Day.
  • Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.  To ensure your child’s place in class, please make sure your deposit is paid and your account does not have an outstanding balance.  NO ONE will be permitted to sign up for a new term if there is an outstanding balance.

Emergency Policy & Procedures

.

  • The studio is equipped with sophisticated fire detection equipment and other security devices which record activities in and around the facility. These are for your child’s safety and children must not tamper with the systems.
  • In the event of a fire, alarms will go off automatically and manually. The fire, police and hospital will be automatically and manually notified. Children will be escorted out of the facility by the instructors and staff and will gather on the open parcel of land opposite the parking lot. A roll call will be taken from the register at the front desk of all children at the facility. The importance of registration at the front desk on entry and exit cannot be over stressed. Staff will remain with the children in a safe area and parents will be notified. Children should not seek to remove their personal belongings i.e. bags, shoes, etc. They must leave through the doors, all of which are illustrated with emergency exit, lighted signs and all have push bars which open from the inside. Please go over the procedures with your child on a regular basis.
  • While we stress safety, as with every sport sometimes a person suffers an injury. Should your child be injured an instructor will administer immediate attention. The studio is equipped with medical kits. Notification will be given to the person or persons named on the form provided to us by you. If required, the person will be transported to the hospital while you are notified. A member of staff will remain with the child until the parent, family doctor or person responsible for the child is in attendance.

Pre-Team/Team Rules

.

  • Participation in our Pre-Team and Competitive Team Programme is based on children’s naturally ability as well as their desire to learn and work more advanced gymnastics skills.  Children are invited to these programs by our instructor’s recommendation.
  • Participation is on an annual (September to July) basis.  If your child chooses to become a member of our pre-team or team, please make sure they understand that they must participate for the entire year.  If they leave before the end of the year, they may lose their place in the program.
  • Fees are based annually, September to July..  Payment for the full term may be made in advance or monthly payments may be made.  Monthly payments are due at the beginning of each month.
  • Please make sure your child attends every practice and arrives promptly to each class.
  • Make-up classes may be done at Open Rec classes only. 
  • There are gymnastics meets that your child will have the option to participate in.  Fees for these meets, will be split among the participating team members for the cost for the coach's (or coaches', depending on number of participants) airline ticket, hotel cost and per diem.
  • Team members are responsible for the cost of entry fees and any membership fees which may apply.

Outside the Gym Rules

.

  • Gymnastics skills are for the gym only...this includes handstands, cartwheels etc.
  • Instead of skills, encourage your child to do additional stretching and strength building.  If you would like an idea of what your child could do at home, please speak to your child’s instructor.
  • Private lessons are available.  The cost of private lessons are as follows:(all fees are in CI$)
    • Non member:  $75
    • Members:  $55
    • Team members:  $50 1 hour, $55 semi private, $25 1/2 hour.
